Events
In addition to sharing its permanent collection galleries and presenting special exhibitions, the museum offers a wide variety of public programs, some of which complement or support visual art exhibitions, some of which stand alone.
Lectures and gallery talks illuminate visual art presentations, while family events offer less formal opportunities for parents and children to learn and have fun. Book clubs, run jointly by the education department and the Ingalls Library, examine books with artistic themes.
The museum’s division of performing arts, music, and film boasts the longest-running continuous classical music program of any United States museum. Juxtaposing myriad traditions from non-western and western countries alike, the museum’s world music and dance programming and internationally respected film program offer colorful insight into the diversity of the world’s cultures.
