Igniting Student Success

Teachers of all grade levels are invited to participate in a dynamic three-day institute to become skilled at infusing art into core curricula and instruction. Discover teaching strategies and develop lesson plans with an art-centered, interdisciplinary approach to help foster student success. The sessions are taught by a variety of professionals and focus on visual literacy skills, use of technology, and hands-on projects—all tied together under the theme "America." Enliven your classroom with an arts-integrated approach to learning!
Course Outline
The following topics are covered during the three-day institute:
Teaching Visual Literacy from Art
Visual literacy supports higher-order thinking and creative problem solving. Use art and visual literacy to develop written, speaking, and comprehension skills that apply to langauge arts, social studies, and technology.
Using and Integrating Museum Tools
Engage with educators in activities that focus on academic connections using the museum’s permanent collection.
Using Technology to Enhance an Arts-
Integrated Curriculum
Technology experts introduce teacher
resources that improve student engagement.
Teaching Core Subjects with Studio Projects
Daily sessions involve hands-on projects that help students understand visual images and relate them to core subjects.
Wrap It Up
Group sessions provide the opportunity to review, collaborate, and demonstrate new skills to ignite student success.
