Conservation Feature

Pollaiuolo: Finding the Pieces of the Puzzle

A close technical study of the Cleveland impression was undertaken during the course of research for the CMA focus exhibition "Battle of the Nudes": Pollaiuolo's Renaissance Masterpiece (August 25th-October 27, 2002).

This work has provided much information with regard to impression quality and has led to new insights concerning the condition of the print, specifically the extent and nature of past restorations.

This research was conducted by Moyna Stanton, Associate Conservator of Works of Art on Paper, at the Cleveland Museum of Art.
