Authored by Carter E. Foster, CMA Associate Curator of Drawings, with CMA Curator of Paintings Sylvain Bellenger and Kress Fellow Patrick Shaw Cable, the exhibition's fully illustrated 146-page catalogue is the first publication of many of these works of art. The book includes a foreword by the director, Katharine Lee Reid, a preface by Muriel E. Butkin, an essay about Butkin's collecting habits by Foster, and entries for each of the 59 works on view. Additional writers of the entries are Kimberly A. Jones, Jérôme de La Gorce, Dena M. Woodall, and Carl Wuellner.
