Cleveland Museum of Art
July 15, 2001 - September 16, 2001

The Cleveland Museum of Art possesses one of the finest collections of Japanese art in the western world. This summer the museum will exhibit its Japanese folding screen collection in two separate installations, allowing visitors the opportunity to see its contents more fully during an eight-week period (Part I will be on view from July 15 to August 12, 2001; Part II will be on view from August 14 to September 16, 2001). The folding screens (byõbu) represent the development of one of the most important formats in the history of Japanese painting.
