Utamaro's print design captures a woman who turns her head to see someone or something behind her. Her loosely arranged hair and yutaka, robe, suggest that she has finished her bath. Although depicted in conventional style and robe, her over-the-shoulder glance depicts a momentary gesture, imparting a sense of spontaneity to the image.
