Research

The museum is a rich resource for researchers, casual to professional. The research capacity resides primarily in the Ingalls Library and in the Collections Online resource.

Ingalls Library

The Ingalls Library, one of the largest art museum libraries in the United States, is a non-circulating art reference library containing over 431,000 cataloged volumes. Its holdings include over 1,600 current periodical subscriptions and long runs of ceased periodicals as well as auction sales catalogues, dealers' catalogues, microforms, electronic publications, CD-ROMs, clipping files, images, museum archives and other research material. The library staff also fields general questions to the museum web site.

Ingalls Library Hours
Tuesday-Friday 10:00–5:00

Wednesday 10:00–9:00
beginning September 3, 2008

The library will be closed the week of July 7-11, 2008.

Please call the library (Reference Desk: 216–707–2530) during the New Year, Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas holidays as hours vary during these times.

 

Collections Online
Data about every work of art in the museum collection, including many images, is available here. Most works have brief texts developed for gallery labels, as well as other related information.

Collection in Focus
Every month the Ingalls Library and Archives will focus on an item or aspect of the collection.
